One body presumed KM Nurul Salsa victim found in Pangkep
On day seven, the search area was widened to 2.924 square nautical miles as the body undergoes identification at RS Bhayangkara Makassar.
A joint search and rescue team found one body believed to be a victim of the KM Nurul Salsa sinking in waters near Pulau Pamulikang, Pangkajene Kepulauan regency, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (21/7). The discovery followed a report from fishermen to the joint SAR post at Pelabuhan Benteng, Kepulauan Selayar. Muhammad Arif Anwar, head of Basarnas Makassar, said KN SAR Pacitan and KN SAR Kamajaya were deployed to evacuate the body, which was then taken to RS Bhayangkara Makassar for identification. The search entered its seventh day, with the operation area expanded to 2.924 square nautical miles, divided into five sectors and six search units. Of the 78 people aboard the vessel traveling from Pulau Jampea to Benteng Selayar, 59 passengers were found alive, one earlier victim had been identified as dead, and others were still being searched for.
