Cartenz task force kills KKB operations commander in Yahukimo
Police also seized 6 rounds of ammunition and detained one man who admitted keeping bullets belonging to another HSSBI member.
Satgas Operasi Damai Cartenz 2026 shot dead AP, the operations commander of the Kelompok Kriminal Bersenjata Batalyon Muara Kali HSSBI Kodap XVI Yahukimo, in Dekai, Papua Pegunungan. Police said AP was wanted and died after running toward the forest when officers tried to stop him in the Jalan Logpon area, after two warning shots. Earlier, a joint team searched a house suspected of being a base and stopover point for HSSBI members in Kota Dekai. At the site, officers seized 1 round of 5,56 mm ammunition, sharp weapons, bows and arrows, and a mobile phone, then detained HS, 28 years old. From the location where AP was confronted, police seized 5 more rounds of ammunition. Police also linked AP to the shootings of Alexander Angket and Naldy Magosa on 28 April 2026 and an incident involving Suhardin on 30 April in Dekai.
