Sam Neill died of pneumonia at age 78 in a Sydney hospital, his longtime agent said, pushing back on false reports about the cause of death. The New Zealand actor's family had described his death earlier this week as sudden and unexpected, adding that he remained cancer-free after treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Neill revealed his diagnosis in 2023 and said in April that scans found no cancer after CAR-T therapy. Best known as Dr. Alan Grant in "Jurassic Park," he built a screen career spanning more than five decades and more than 150 credits, including "The Piano," "The Hunt for Red October" and "Peaky Blinders." His family plans a private memorial at his farm in New Zealand.
