Russian missile likely landed in Poland after strikes killed 8 in Ukraine

What's new: Poland scrambled fighter jets, and the object left a 10-meter crater in farmland near Tarnawa-Kolonia.

A Russian missile likely landed in eastern Poland overnight after a wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least eight people, including one in Kyiv, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said. Polish authorities found a crater and scattered debris in a field near Tarnawa-Kolonia in Lublin province, about 2 km from the nearest buildings. Tusk said the indications pointed to a Russian Kh-101 missile, though officials were still working to confirm the type and launch details. Poland's armed forces said the object entered Polish airspace around 3:40 a.m. and disappeared from radar soon after. A military helicopter later identified the probable crash site, and authorities said fighter jets were scrambled to protect Polish airspace.
