Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv region kills 17

A Russian overnight barrage of ballistic missiles and drones killed 17 people and wounded at least 44 in Kyiv and the surrounding region on Wednesday, Ukrainian officials said. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack hit residential buildings, warehouses, infrastructure and a railway station, and he argued more ballistic-missile interceptors could have saved lives. Ukraine said Russia fired 24 ballistic missiles, four other missiles and 115 drones. Russia's Defense Ministry said it targeted logistics and distribution sites tied to Ukraine's military effort in Kyiv region and also struck cargo vessels near Odesa. The attack was among the deadliest on the capital region this year.
