Russia explores labor placement partnership with RI

New: Moscow has contacted the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of P2MI, and several manpower suppliers.

Russia has begun exploring opportunities for labor-placement cooperation with Indonesia. Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov in Jakarta on Wednesday said the issue only entered the two countries' bilateral agenda last year and remains at an early stage. He said demand for labor in Russia has risen, in part because of an aging population, prompting some companies to look to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, after recruiting from Central Asian countries. Tolchenov said the Russian side has already established contact with the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Pelindungan Pekerja Migran Indonesia, and several companies in Indonesia. He also said bilateral agreements between governments or between companies may be needed so worker placement can proceed with legal certainty and transparency.
