Ronaldo gets 30-day ban, €255 fine after Portugal camp walkout

What's next: The suspension began Oct. 1, so Ronaldo could be eligible for Portugal's Nov. 14 Nations League match against Denmark.

Cristiano Ronaldo was banned for 30 days and fined 255 euros by the Portuguese Football Federation after leaving Portugal's national team camp in Copenhagen during the last Nations League window. The federation's disciplinary council found that the 41-year-old forward intentionally violated its rules after a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus over his role in the squad. Ronaldo had been an unused substitute against Norway and then left before the Denmark match. The federation said he admitted the facts, while Ronaldo had already apologized for leaving teammates and failing to acknowledge supporters. The ban took effect on Oct. 1, meaning he has already served much of it and may return for Portugal's next games in November.
