RI, Albania sign MoU on skilled migrant worker placements

Albania is being prepared as a destination for the SMK Go Global program, with 40,000 migrant worker candidates targeted this year.

Indonesia and Albania signed a memorandum of understanding on the placement and protection of migrant workers in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7). Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Mukhtarudin and Albanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj signed the agreement to expand job markets for skilled Indonesian workers. The government is preparing Albania as one of the destinations for the SMK Go Global program, which links vocational graduates with formal jobs abroad. Mukhtarudin said initial placements in Albania will focus on skilled workers in the formal, non-domestic sector. The MoU is also intended to strengthen protection for migrant workers before departure, while working, and after returning home. The cooperation follows Prabowo Subianto's visit to Albania in July 2024.
