UAE denies report it released up to $20 billion to Iran

What's new: Abu Dhabi called the claims "false and unfounded" after reports tied the alleged funds to efforts to halt Iranian strikes.

The United Arab Emirates denied reports that it had released billions of dollars in frozen funds to Iran, pushing back after Reuters reported an arrangement that sources said was part of a de-escalation effort during the U.S.-Israeli war with Tehran. The UAE Foreign Ministry said no Iranian funds had been released, transferred or facilitated through the country. Reuters, citing four unnamed sources, reported totals ranging from $10 billion to $20 billion, with one source saying a first $3 billion tranche had already been made available. The report said the alleged move coincided with talks between Washington and Tehran on ending the war. Vice President JD Vance said funds would not be released to Iran simply for signing a deal or attending a meeting.
