Real Madrid sign Bernardo Silva to two-year contract

The Portugal midfielder joins on a free transfer after his Manchester City deal expired and becomes Madrid's second signing this summer.

Real Madrid have signed Bernardo Silva to a two-year contract through June 30, 2028. The 31-year-old Portugal midfielder joins on a free transfer after his Manchester City contract expired at the end of last season. Silva ended nine years at City, a spell filled with trophies, and chose to move to Santiago Bernabeu despite interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. He is Madrid's second signing of the summer transfer window after the arrival of left back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The move comes as Jose Mourinho's side rebuilds after finishing the season without a trophy, eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga and eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals.
