Qatar emir urges Gaza genocide perpetrators be tried in Doha
Tamim reaffirmed Qatar will keep mediating even as Israeli attacks continued after the October 2025 ceasefire.
Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called for those responsible for genocide in the Gaza Strip to be held accountable. In the opening speech of the 55th annual session of Qatar’s Shura Council in Doha on Tuesday, Tamim said what has happened in Gaza since October 2023 is “without a doubt genocide.” He added that Qatar would continue working with regional and international partners to preserve stability in the region. Qatar has been serving as a mediator alongside Mesir, Turkiye and the United States in ceasefire efforts. Although the agreement took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have continued. According to sources quoted by Antara, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, while nearly 1,500 more were killed after the ceasefire took effect.
