Fajar/Fikri reach China Open quarterfinals after beating Japan pair
Indonesia’s No. 2 seeds won 21-19, 21-11 and will face a South Korean pair in the last eight.
Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri advanced to the China Open 2026 quarterfinals after defeating Japan's Takumi Nomura/Yuichi Shimogami 21-19, 21-11 in the round of 16 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou on Thursday (23/7). The Indonesian men's doubles pair was pushed hard in the first game before taking control in the second. Fajar said the windy conditions on court one were a challenge, so they changed tactics and used more long rallies when playing against the wind. The second-seeded duo arrived with momentum after winning the Japan Open 2026. In the quarterfinals, they are scheduled to meet South Korea's Kang Min-hyuk/Ki Dong-ju.
