PSI Delays Announcement of Jokowi Role in Party Structure
PSI said the post for Jokowi remains pending administrative readiness and party-structure work ahead of verification.
PSI has not announced Joko Widodo's position in the party structure, although the former president has been widely mentioned as a candidate for Ketua Dewan Pembina. PSI deputy chairwoman Isyana Bagoes Oka in Jakarta on Tuesday said the announcement awaits completion of all internal preparations. PSI is now focused on building its structure as well as administrative verification and factual verification. Isyana also denied that Jokowi's visits to several regions were political tours for PSI. She said the trips were simply to fulfill public invitations and party activities after Jokowi's health improved. Amid the speculation, Jokowi's supporters are divided. Andi Azwan of Militan Gibran Nusantara backs Jokowi joining PSI or another party, while Relly Reagen of Brigade Rakyat Nusantara hopes Jokowi remains outside party politics so he can be accepted by all groups.
