Pramono prepares sports facilities after Manggarai clash hit KRL
The Jakarta administration is shifting from short-term raids to long-term measures, with police coordination and youth facilities planned.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is preparing a long-term response after a clash near Manggarai Station on Friday (21/8) disrupted KRL services and caused passenger buildup as far as Cawang Station. He said the fight began over a minor dispute between groups of young people, but its impact spread to public transportation services. Pemprov DKI, Pramono said, does not want to rely again on case-by-case handling that only eases tensions temporarily. The solutions being prepared include sports facilities and public spaces in dense areas such as Manggarai, including a boxing ring, badminton court, mini soccer field and futsal court. Pemprov is also coordinating with police and law enforcement officials, including to anticipate conflict in Bukit Duri, Tebet, Jakarta Selatan.
