Pramono prepares revitalization of JIC Grand Mosque in Koja
The Jakarta government is opening outside partnerships, including CSR support, after the mosque has sat damaged since the 2022 fire.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is preparing the revitalization of the Jakarta Islamic Centre Grand Mosque in Koja, North Jakarta, which was severely damaged in a fire on Oct. 19, 2022. He said the Jakarta provincial government is now completing cost calculations as the first step toward repairs and renovation so the mosque can be used again at full capacity. Pramono said comprehensive handling of the mosque has been delayed for too long. The provincial government is also opening the door to cooperation with outside parties to support the project, including through corporate social responsibility, or CSR, schemes. According to Pramono, some parties have already expressed willingness to help repair and renovate the mosque on Jalan Kramat Raya, Tugu Utara, Koja. During the 2022 fire, the mosque's dome collapsed and briefly caused panic among residents nearby.
