Prabowo to inaugurate village power in 1,400 sites by Aug. 14
The government says about 11,000 villages still lack electricity, while follow-on funding for 2026-2027 is already in place.
President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate the village electrification program at more than 1,400 locations completed in 2025 before Aug. 14, 2026. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the plan was discussed at a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Bahlil, the projects to be inaugurated have already been finished and are no longer facing funding constraints. He added that the government still has to provide electricity to about 11,000 villages that remain without access. The village electrification program is being positioned as an effort to expand services to areas that have long gone without power. The government is also preparing budget allocations to continue the program in 2026 and 2027, with a target of supplying electricity to all villages and hamlets in Indonesia by 2029.
