Prabowo reviews 12 BRIN research clusters, tests coconut tiles

BRIN brought 150 researchers and highlighted low-pressure ANG technology as a potential substitute for LPG.

President Prabowo Subianto reviewed presentations from 12 BRIN research clusters at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, then toured innovation booths and tested the durability of roofing tiles made from coconut fiber by throwing and stepping on them. BRIN Head Arif Satria said about 150 researchers were on hand to present work in food, energy, health, transportation, housing, space, aviation, nuclear, rare earth metals, and support for the Free Nutritious Meals program and fishing villages. One technology presented was adsorbed natural gas, or ANG, a natural gas storage system using adsorbent materials that can operate at pressures below 30 bar and is projected as an alternative to LPG, although it still needs development before reaching commercial scale.
