Prabowo hosts Ramos-Horta, 20 Nobel laureates at Istana
The meeting highlighted science, technology and higher education cooperation under Indonesia's good-neighbor policy.
President Prabowo Subianto received Timor Leste President José Ramos-Horta at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Friday (28/8), along with about 20 Nobel laureates from various fields. The meeting discussed strengthening Indonesia-Timor Leste ties, including possible cooperation in science, technology and higher education. Prabowo was accompanied by Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto and BRIN chief Arif Satria. Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir said the Nobel delegation had just attended a science meeting in Timor Leste on 24-26 August. Arif said Prabowo urged rapid collaboration between the Nobel laureates and Indonesian researchers and academics, in line with the priority of the good neighbor policy for neighboring countries and ASEAN.
