Prabowo sets fuel at Rp15,000 a liter for 30-200 GT fishers
The roughly Rp3,600-per-liter gap will be covered by BPDP, not the state budget, under a 400,000-ton quota for six months.
President Prabowo Subianto set a special fuel price of Rp15,000 per liter for fishers operating 30-200 gross ton vessels. The decision was made during a limited meeting in Hambalang, Bogor, after the government previously discussed a special scheme to lower fishing operating costs. Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said non-subsidized fuel had at one point reached Rp21,300 per liter, while fishers under 30 GT were already buying subsidized fuel at about Rp6,800 per liter. He said the average domestic diesel production cost was around Rp18,600 per liter, so the difference will be covered by funds from Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia was asked to prepare regulations, and the government set a quota of 400,000 tons for six months.
