Prabowo's grandfather proposed as a national hero from Central Java
The family reportedly gave written consent, and the nomination file was sent to the Social Affairs Ministry in April 2026.
Raden Mas Margono Djojohadikusumo, President Prabowo Subianto's grandfather, has been proposed as a National Hero along with six figures from Central Java. Central Java Social Affairs Office secretary Isriadi Widodo said Prabowo's family had already approved the proposal in writing. He said the nomination for Margono was initiated by the Seruan Eling Banyumas group in March 2025, then passed assessment by the Regional Title Research and Assessment Team in Banyumas Regency and Central Java province. With the governor's recommendation, the file was submitted by the Central Java Social Affairs Office to the Social Affairs Ministry in April 2026. Isriadi also rejected the notion that the proposal was linked to Prabowo's position as president, and cited Margono's role in building early post-independence economic institutions, including as founder of BNI 46.
