Prabowo receives Ramos-Horta and 20 Nobel laureates at palace
The Jakarta meeting is aimed at quick collaboration on research, higher education, the environment, science and innovation.
President Prabowo Subianto received Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta and 20 Nobel laureates at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Friday (28/8). The meeting brought together the Indonesian government and a delegation of scientists and Nobel Prize winners from fields ranging from peace and science to chemistry and food. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the agenda also strengthens Indonesia-Timor-Leste relations and opens opportunities for cooperation in the environment, research, higher education, science and innovation. BRIN head Arif Satria said Prabowo asked that the collaboration opportunities be realized soon so the Nobel laureates can help strengthen Indonesia's research talent ecosystem. Earlier, Ramos-Horta and Megawati Soekarnoputri also held talks with the Nobel laureates in Jakarta through the Science for Development Summit forum.
