Prabowo orders PLN and Pertamina to cut subsidiaries
The move is expected to speed decisions and tighten efficiency controls at other major state firms, not just those two groups.
President Prabowo Subianto has ordered government officials and state-owned enterprise executives, especially PLN and Pertamina, to quickly reduce the number of subsidiaries, grandchild companies and business units under them. The instruction was delivered during a limited meeting at the President's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday night, to several ministers and PT Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the reduction in business layers is aimed at speeding up decision-making, especially when dealing with critical issues, while also improving productivity and maintaining efficiency. According to Teddy, the directive does not stop with those two groups, but also applies to other BUMN.
