Prabowo teams up with Imperial College for 10 new medical schools

The British school will not open a branch in Indonesia, but will guide curricula, research, faculty and hospital design.

President Prabowo Subianto received a delegation from Imperial College London at the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Monday to finalize a strategic partnership for building 10 new medical and science universities in Indonesia. Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto said the plan is not to open a branch campus, but to establish a strategic partnership program. Under the model, Imperial College professors will help draft curricula, set teaching standards, conduct joint research, run visiting professor programs, improve faculty quality, and oversee the design of hospitals for the new campuses. Brian said the cooperation is intended to strengthen the quality of medical education and national research, with benefits expected to extend to other universities in various regions.
