Prabowo claims state budget leak tops Rp1,000 trillion
He said Rp300 trillion in savings has been redirected to a nutritious meal program and a plan to build 5,000 bridges by 2026.
President Prabowo Subianto said state budget leakages had reached more than Rp1,000 trillion and that the practice was being stopped. He made the remarks at the 28th anniversary of PKB at the Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday. Prabowo tied the estimate to economic inefficiency reflected in an incremental capital output ratio, or ICOR, of around 6.24 to 6.5. He said if about 30 percent of the Rp3,700 trillion state budget were lost to leakages, the amount would exceed Rp1,000 trillion. He pointed to price inflation in spending by government agencies. Prabowo also claimed Rp300 trillion in savings in the early months of his administration had been shifted to a nutritious meal program and the construction of 5,000 bridges through December 2026.
