Prabowo and Modi to sign Prambanan Temple conservation deal

The Yogyakarta signing follows 16 Indonesia-India agreements, including a plan to restore the perwara with ASI.

President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to sign a conservation agreement for Candi Prambanan in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, the high point of Modi's state visit to Indonesia. The agenda includes restoration and conservation of the temple complex, to be carried out by the Indonesian government together with the Archaeological Survey of India. Modi is also scheduled to worship at the Prambanan complex. A day earlier at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta, Prabowo and Modi held bilateral talks that produced 16 cooperation documents in defense, education, health, culture, energy and technology. Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the focus of Prambanan revitalization includes the perwara temples; of about 200 surrounding structures, only six have been restored.
