Prabowo and Gibran attend opening of 35th NU congress in Jombang
The 27-31 August forum will consolidate the organization and discuss national issues, organizers said.
President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the opening of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama congress in Jombang, East Java, on Thursday (27/8). Prabowo arrived at about 15:30 WIB at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic boarding school complex and was scheduled to open the NU's top forum. Several ministers and national figures also attended, including Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Muhaimin Iskandar, Zulkifli Hasan, Tito Karnavian, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Jusuf Kalla, and Ma'ruf Amin. Organizers said participant registration had begun a day earlier and technical and administrative preparations were ready. The congress runs from 27-31 August 2026 to discuss the organization's agenda and strategic national issues.
