PPP teacher status shifts to central government, 2027 deficit 2.4%
Part-time PPP teachers will become full-time, while full-time PPP teachers may compete for PNS positions in 2027.
The government and Parliament have agreed to shift PPP teacher employment status to central government workers, with the Finance Ministry saying the move will not disrupt state finances. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the budget for the policy has already been calculated and the 2027 draft budget deficit target will remain at 2.4 percent of GDP, equal to Rp671.2 trillion. At the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said part-time PPP teachers will be appointed as full-time PPP staff. Teachers already holding full-time PPP status will be given the chance to take the PNS selection process in 2027. The government is also aligning teacher personnel data while following up on input from Parliament and teacher associations.
