Polri raids Bea Cukai Juanda, seizes evidence in used-phone import case
Investigators suspect payments to officials since 2024 and have seized documents, cash and Singapore dollars.
The Polri Corruption Crime Suppression Corps searched the Bea Cukai Juanda Type Madya Pabean Supervision and Service Office in Sidoarjo on Wednesday (24/6) in an investigation into alleged corruption in the illegal import of used mobile phones. The searches also covered the Juanda Cargo Warehouse owned by PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta and the homes of two people identified as MT and AY in Surabaya. Investigators suspect used phones were imported from abroad with invalid documents and accompanied by payments to officials or state administrators in 2024-2026. From the searches, police seized three containers of documents, a mirror file of the CEISA application, five iPhones, a CCTV DVR, bank statements, deposit slip notes, about Rp165 juta in cash, 14,200 Singapore dollars, gold jewelry, land and building certificates, eight SHGB, and a motorcycle registration document. MT and AY remain witnesses.
