Polri names 11 corporations as suspects in wildfire cases, 3 PMA
So far, 98 corporate wildfire cases have moved to investigation, and owners and shareholders may also face liability.
Polri has named 11 corporations as suspects in forest and land fire cases in Indonesia. Three of the 11 are foreign investment companies. After a plenary cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (21/10), the Kapolri said the companies have not yet been identified publicly and will be explained later.
Earlier, Bareskrim Polri had upgraded 98 police reports involving corporations in wildfire cases to the investigation stage. Investigators are still collecting evidence to bring charges against those responsible. Polri also opened the possibility that criminal liability would not stop with the business entity, but could extend to company owners and shareholders linked to the wildfires.
