Polrestabes Bandung probes illegal felling of 10 trees on Jalan Riau
Police have not received a formal city report, even after Satpol PP sealed the site of the former tree felling.
Polrestabes Bandung has begun investigating the alleged illegal cutting of 10 shade trees at the intersection of Jalan LLRE Martadinata, or Jalan Riau, and Jalan Cihapit in Bandung. Criminal Investigation Unit head AKBP Anton said police have not yet received an official report from the relevant agency or the Bandung city government, but the initial inquiry is continuing with Polsek. Earlier, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan sealed the site after an inspection and said tree cutting without a permit could lead to criminal proceedings. Data from the Housing and Settlements Agency showed the trees cut down were five mahoni and five tanjung, about 10 meters tall, on a city-owned sidewalk. The cutting is believed to have occurred from the night of 1 July into the early hours of 2 July 2026, while investigators are still tracing the perpetrators, including a possible role by ASN.
