Investigators are checking whether Jesslyn has left Jakarta and whether she went voluntarily or was abducted.
The Metro Jakarta Pusat Police are investigating the disappearance of women’s golf athlete Jesslyn Wijaya Lay after her family filed a kidnapping report at Saung Kita Restaurant in Mangga Besar, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, on 13 July at around 19:45 WIB. Family lawyer Andi Darti said Jesslyn was allegedly blindfolded and taken by two large men to a black car; witnesses also saw about five men at the scene. Since then, Jesslyn has not been reachable. Criminal Investigation Unit head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra said police have questioned witnesses, including the victim’s parents, and reviewed CCTV footage. Police are also tracing the possibility that the victim has already left Jakarta. The family received unverified information about a possible trip to Malaysia via Semarang on 14 July, while a phone believed to belong to the victim was said to have been detected in Puri Jimbaran.
