Israel police reject Netanyahu vote-rigging allegations
Netanyahu’s bloc has 52 seats, leaving Arab parties’ 20 seats pivotal in building a 61-seat majority in the Knesset.
Israel police said they found no evidence backing Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party’s allegation that Arab parties stole or manipulated the election. In an official statement on Thursday (29/10), police said there were several unusual incidents involving election integrity, but no basis for an investigation or intelligence supporting claims of systemic fraud. The accusations followed Likud’s allegations of bribery, intimidation and vote manipulation, and its request for an inquiry. Netanyahu also cited Supreme Court judge Noam Sohlberg, who ordered Shin Bet to review claims of foreign interference. Amid the dispute, the count showed Netanyahu’s bloc with 52 seats, his rival Gadi Eisenkot with 48 seats, while Arab parties held 20 seats, including Joint List with 12 and Ra'am with 8.
