Police deny 995 weapons at South Jakarta school were for club

The foundation said it found the weapons only after opening a room used by a former chief and asked police to inspect a bunker on campus.

Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan said the 995 weapons found at a private school in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, were not linked to a shooting extracurricular activity. Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan public relations chief Joko Adi Wibowo said police are still investigating the purpose of the weapons, including whether they were tied to instruction or something else. The new foundation management also denied the school ever had a shooting club. Foundation lawyer Hermawanto said the group learned of the weapons only after opening a room previously controlled by the former management, who had been dismissed. At the site, police also found ammunition, gun accessories, bullet-making equipment, porno VCDs, and items suspected to be methamphetamine and marijuana. The foundation is now asking police to inspect a bunker on the school grounds that remains sealed off with police tape.
