Police raid Kampung Bahari, arrest 27 drug suspects
New: 1,800 joint officers seized methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, a pill press, firearms and sharp weapons.
Polda Metro Jaya, Bareskrim Polri, BNN and Brimob raided Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Sunday (1/11), and arrested 27 people suspected of involvement in a narcotics case. The operation was carried out simultaneously from multiple directions after police mapped possible escape routes, including several narrow alleys in the area. Seized evidence included methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, an ecstasy press machine, methamphetamine pipes, sharp weapons, firearms and cash. Bismo Teguh Prakoso, director of narcotics at Polda Metro Jaya, said officers faced resistance that was suspected to be an effort to divert the focus of the operation. Metro Jaya police chief Dadang Hartanto added that police wanted to prevent the area from being used again for drug trafficking.
