Police raid illegal tramadol factory in Bandung, 5 arrested

Police estimate the seized raw materials could yield 256 million pills, with part of the supply chain headed for Jakarta.

Polrestabes Bandung raided an illegal hard-drug factory in the Pergudangan Bizpark area of Bandung city on Sunday (18/10) and arrested five suspects. At the site, police seized hundreds of thousands of tramadol and hexymer pills ready for distribution, production machines, precursor raw materials, dozens of cellphones, a laptop containing sales data and account books. West Java Police Chief Inspector General Hengki said the case began with the arrest of one suspect at the KM 125 Purbaleunyi Toll Rest Area on Friday (16/10) with 600,000 hexymer pills that were to be taken to Jakarta. Follow-up investigations at three points inside the Bizpark complex led to four other suspects. Police estimate the raw materials found could produce up to 256 million pills and are tracing suppliers and distribution routes outside West Java.
