Police arrest second suspect in Sukoharjo noodle shop blaze
Police said suspect I allegedly recruited others, while investigators are still probing whether more people were involved.
Police arrested I, the second suspect in the arson and vandalism case at a babi noodle stall in Parangjoro Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java. I was apprehended in Solo, or Surakarta, on 6 November 2026 after being placed on the wanted list. Sukoharjo Police Chief Indra Maulana Saputra said preliminary questioning indicated I was suspected of recruiting a number of people, including suspect S, to carry out the attack on 12 September 2026. S had been arrested earlier, on 19 October. Police said I is a former terrorism convict who was previously involved in the attack on the Pasar Kliwon Police Station in 2015. Both suspects are now being held at the Central Java Police headquarters in Semarang. Investigators are also still examining the possibility of other perpetrators, amid scrutiny over a search at Pondok Pesantren Hamalatul Quran on 27 October.
