Polda DIY names 3 suspects in church service breakup in Bantul
Investigators have questioned 32 witnesses and summoned the three suspects for further legal processing in the case.
Polda DIY has named three suspects in the forced breakup of a worship service by the congregation of Gereja Misi Sejahtera (GMS) in Sewon, Bantul, in May 2026. The three suspects are identified as D (47), BS (54), and AH (55). Polda DIY public relations chief Kombes Pol Ihsan said investigators from Ditreskrimum had questioned 32 witnesses, held a case review, and then issued official summonses to all three. They are suspected of violating Article 303 paragraph (3) or Article 303 paragraph (2) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 25, in the morning at a building used as a church in Glugo, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul.
