PLN deploys 45,000 personnel ahead of RI's 81st anniversary

Peak demand on Aug. 17 is projected at 42.6 GW, with 9 GW of reserve power, or 21.1%, across the system.

PT PLN (Persero) has deployed more than 45,000 personnel at 2,275 points to secure electricity supplies during the series of events marking RI's 81st anniversary. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said full standby status has been in place since early August, with inspections covering power plants, substations, transmission and distribution networks, and routes around event sites. On Aug. 17, 2026, PLN projects national peak load at 42.6 gigawatts, while available generation capacity stands at 51.6 gigawatts, leaving 9 gigawatts in reserve. PLN has also prepared 1,517 generators, 559 UPS units, 1,286 mobile substations, 75 mobile cables, 318 crane trucks, and thousands of operational vehicles. For the Presidential Palace, power security is arranged in up to five layers, including generation, feeders, SCADA, UPS, and generators.
