PLN Batam Restores Power After Blackout, Denies 3-Day Outage
Initial indications point to wildlife at Gardu Induk Sungai Harapan, while compensation will be credited automatically on the next bill.
PT PLN Batam said electricity supply in Batam City had been restored after a widespread outage on Monday morning. By Tuesday at 04.00 WIB, 98 percent of customers and 99 percent of the load that went dark were back on line, while all substations and transmission networks were said to be normal. PLN Batam corporate secretary Rudi Antono said initial indications suggested wildlife entered the area of Gardu Induk Sungai Harapan, although the exact cause was still under investigation. At the same time, PLN Batam denied social media posts claiming a planned outage during 12-14 October and a six-hour power restriction. The company also said compensation would be provided automatically if the disruption exceeded service standards.
