Malaysia pilot arrested with 70,114 ecstasy pills at Soetta

Police said the suspect had smuggled drugs three times before and was promised 50,000 ringgit for the latest trip.

A joint team from Bareskrim Polri and Bea Cukai arrested Malaysian pilot MSBO, also identified as Mohd Saufi bin Othman, after finding 70,114 ecstasy pills and 2.7 grams of methamphetamine in his suitcase at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Tuesday (28/7) night. The ecstasy evidence weighed about 25.19 kilograms. Police said the suspect's suitcase was flagged as suspicious during screening with an X-ray machine for international passenger baggage. In questioning, MSBO said someone in Malaysia asked him to bring narcotics to Jakarta in return for 50,000 ringgit, after which the goods would be picked up at a hotel. Bareskrim also said he had smuggled drugs three times, including once carrying 7 kilograms of methamphetamine to Jakarta. Urine test results showed he was positive for methamphetamine, MDMA, and cocaine.
