Pezeshkian met Mojtaba Khamenei in late July amid health speculation

Iranian state media reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in late July, ahead of the third year of the president's term. The meeting was said to cover military and economic matters, including securing resources, managing foreign exchange, energy use and economic relations with foreign partners. The report came after Pezeshkian gave conflicting accounts of his access to Khamenei: on July 21 he said their interactions were becoming more frequent, but in early August he said communication was very difficult. Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public since replacing Ali Khamenei in March. Qasem Qoraishi, deputy head of the Basij Organization, also promised footage showing Khamenei among the public, amid speculation over his health.
