Pertamina tests collection of 500,000 liters of used cooking oil in Banyumas

The four-month pilot through four cooperatives will channel used cooking oil into feedstock for SAF and green gasoline.

Pertamina and the Ministry of Cooperatives have launched a cooperative-based pilot program to collect used cooking oil in Dawuhan Village, Banyumas, Central Java. The initial phase will run for four months through four Merah Putih village/subdistrict cooperatives, with a target of 500,000 liters of used cooking oil. The feedstock will be used to produce cleaner fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, and green gasoline. Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Mars Ega Legowo Putra said the Cilacap refinery has been prepared for processing, and the same model will then be expanded to the Balongan, Dumai, and Plaju refineries. Pertamina said the scheme could create new income for residents while reducing household waste that can pollute waterways.
