Presidential decree on ojol targeted before Aug. 17; partners in MSMEs

The government is targeting a Presidential Regulation on the online transportation ecosystem to be issued before Aug. 17, 2026. After a meeting at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the drafting of the policy had basically been completed and was now at the administrative stage. Under the regulation, online motorcycle taxi drivers will be classified as micro, small and medium enterprises. MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman said two articles were still under discussion before the text is finalized. He said MSME status would give workers greater flexibility and open access to MSME incentive packages. He also denied reports that ojol drivers would be subject to tax, saying their income is in the range of Rp10 juta hingga Rp15 juta.
