KM 17 Repairs Trigger Two Weeks of Gridlock on Palembang-Jambi Road
Trucks, buses and private cars must take turns on the Palembang-Betung stretch, with queues stretching for kilometers.
Long traffic jams continue on the Palembang-Jambi East Trunk Road, especially in Pangkalan Balai, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. Vehicle queues have reportedly lasted for the past two weeks after roadbed and shoulder concrete work at KM 17 on the Palembang-Betung section was put under a stop-and-go system.
The arrangement forces vehicles in both directions to pass alternately, slowing traffic and stretching the queues for several kilometers, especially during rush hours. Freight trucks, buses and private vehicles must wait longer before clearing the repair point. Drivers are urged to plan their trips and follow officers' instructions while road work continues.
