Merdeka Run 2026 registration opens Aug. 12, start at Istana
The free 8-kilometer race will be held Aug. 29 as part of Jakarta's 81st RI Independence Day celebrations.
The Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga will open registration for Merdeka Run 2026 on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026 at 17.00 WIB through the merdekarun.id website. The free race, under the theme “Bangun, Bergerak, Merdeka,” will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, over 8 kilometers with a start at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta. Beyond the race, organizers have prepared an UMKM bazaar, a culinary festival, drone displays and musical performances to mark the 81st anniversary of RI Independence Day. Kemenpora urged the public to follow updates on Instagram @merdekarun_indonesia and @kemenpora. Menpora previously said the event is open to all segments of society and prioritized for Indonesian citizens, although foreign participants may still join.
