Medan city government launches mass clean-up in 21 districts
Residents also raised complaints on flooding, trash, drugs and civil registry services, which they said should stay free and be completed.
The Medan city government held a simultaneous mass clean-up across 21 districts on Saturday (15/8) to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence. Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas monitored the activity on Jalan Keramat Indah, Kelurahan Medan Tenggara, Medan Denai district, and other districts through a monitor screen. The event was part of the Indonesia Asri campaign and included tree planting and a Sapa Warga session. During the meeting, residents reported flooding, drainage problems, trash, street lighting, clean water, government aid and population administration services. A resident of Jermal 12, Megawati Harahap, also called for action against drug distribution in Jermal 15 Ujung. Rico said the city government would coordinate with TNI and Polri, and asked Disdukcapil to review its services so residents who already had queue numbers would still be served without fees.
