Government readies vocational training for 50,000 laid-off workers
Internship and vocational funding will reach Rp6.26 trillion in the second half of 2026, with 370,000 participants targeted.
The government is preparing vocational training for 50,000 workers laid off in the second half of 2026 as part of its economic stimulus package. The program is included in the 2026 National Vocational Training program, which targets 220,000 participants, mainly layoff victims and graduates of senior high school and vocational high school. In addition, the government will continue the second batch of the National Internship Program in 2026 with a target of 150,000 participants. Manpower Minister Yassierli said the internship and vocational programs are backed by about Rp6.26 trillion in funding, out of a total second-half stimulus of Rp26.34 trillion. The 2025 internship program previously drew 102.6 thousand participants at 8,048 companies and agencies. The government aims for the second batch to start in July 2026 with integrated competency certification.
