Pelita Jaya wins IBL Finals Game 1, edges Hornbills 90-87

Pelita Jaya Jakarta opened the 2026 IBL finals with a 90-87 victory over Bogor Hornbills at GMSB, Jakarta, on Friday to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series. The game stayed tight from the start and went to overtime after a driving layup by Perrin Buford with two seconds left forced a 76-76 tie. Buford led the way with a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds, plus nine assists. For Hornbills, Travin Thibodeaux scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Hornbills had led by nine points with 2.5 minutes left in the fourth quarter but lost focus in the closing stretch. Coach David Singleton said Pelita Jaya had not played to standard, while Cesar Camara pointed to late-game details as the main lesson ahead of Game 2 on Sunday, June 21.
