PDIP Pushes to Impeach Gibran as Support Grows
PDIP said the alleged tapping case involving Prabowo has increased public pressure and intensified cross-faction lobbying in the DPR.
PDIP is pushing to impeach Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and says political communication with factions in the DPR RI is becoming more intensive. PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said the push strengthened after allegations surfaced that former police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo tapped President Prabowo Subianto and other figures. According to Hasto, the party is continuing talks with eight factions in the DPR, while public pressure is also mounting. He also said Gibran has lost political legitimacy. Hasto repeated three PDIP objections: Constitutional Court Decision No. 90 of 2023, alleged abuse of power during the 2024 election cycle, and a school-graduation requirement he said has not been met.
