PBNU prepares Munas-Konbes NU closing in Bangkalan if Prabowo attends
If the president cannot make it, the closing will stay in Ploso, Kediri; PBNU said the Bangkalan move is symbolic.
PBNU is preparing two venue scenarios for the closing of the 2026 Musyawarah Nasional Alim Ulama and Konferensi Besar NU, depending on whether President Prabowo Subianto attends. The event series will open at Pondok Pesantren Al Falah Ploso, Kediri, on 20 June 2026. If Prabowo attends on 23 June, the closing will be held at STAI Pesantren Syaichona Moh. Cholil in Bangkalan, Madura; if not, the closing will remain in Ploso. PBNU Secretary-General Saifullah Yusuf said the formal invitation to the president is still awaiting confirmation. Katib Aam Syuriyah PBNU Mohammad Nuh said Bangkalan was chosen for its symbolic value as the birthplace of Syaichona Kholil, a key figure in NU's history. He also denied that the location change was tied to a myth about a presidential visit to Kediri, saying it was solely due to schedule adjustments.
